Drinks at Central Cafe

Amidst the vibrant hum of Glasgow’s cocktail bars, I sipped elegance from a crystal glass, as jazz notes danced around me like fireflies.

Come visit us at the The Heilanman’s Umbrella

In the 19th century, a tide of 30,000 Highlanders swept into Glasgow – a migration fueled by both necessity and hope named ‘The Clearances’. These were the Gaelic speakers, their ancestral homes razed by relentless landlords after forced evictions to aquire the land. Arriving in the city, they carried with them the echoes of distant glens, the scent of heather, and the resilience of a people who had weathered storms. The Hielanman’s Umbrella is a landmark in the centre of Glasgow. It is the local Glaswegian nickname for the glass walled railway bridge which carries the platforms of Glasgow Central station across Argyle Street where these newly arrived Highlanders would often meet and congregate and stay dry in Glasgow’s rainy days!
